Gonvarri Solar Steel , a global company specializing in the design and supply of solar trackers and fixed structures for photovoltaic projects, has consolidated the transport of 350 TEUs destined for several of its deliveries of trackers for photovoltaic projects in Spain into a single state-of-the-art vessel, reaffirming its commitment to the implementation of more efficient and sustainable logistics solutions.
The operation, scheduled to arrive at the Port of Alicante on August 6, will supply various photovoltaic installations under development within Spain. Of the total volume transported, 225 TEUs correspond to a single project, which will be supplied entirely through this established green maritime operation.
This logistics planning represents a further step in Gonvarri Solar Steel's strategy to optimize the supply chain of its projects, reducing intermediate movements, improving operational efficiency and minimizing the environmental impact associated with the transport of materials.
The vessel selected for this operation incorporates technologies aimed at significantly improving the environmental performance of maritime transport. These include its readiness to operate on methanol as fuel in the future (methanol ready), the ability to connect to onshore power supply (OPS) systems, reducing emissions during port calls, and advanced navigation optimization systems that increase energy efficiency throughout the voyage.
Based on estimates derived from the vessel's operational efficiency and cargo concentration, this operation will reduce CO₂ emissions associated with maritime transport by up to 25% compared to conventional operations using older-generation vessels. Furthermore, the incorporated technologies will significantly decrease emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur oxides (SOx), and particulate matter.
The decision to consolidate the supply into a single maritime operation reflects Gonvarri Solar Steel and Gonvarri Industries' vision of driving an energy transition that integrates sustainability criteria into all phases of the project. From component design and manufacturing to final transport and delivery, the company continues to focus on solutions capable of reducing the carbon footprint of its operations without compromising efficiency, reliability, or service quality.
With this initiative, Gonvarri Solar Steel reinforces its commitment to more responsible logistics, demonstrating that industrial competitiveness and sustainability can advance together to build an increasingly efficient, innovative supply chain aligned with the demands of the energy transition.
