Future Energy Summit (FES) and the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE) will hold the FES Government & Investment Virtual Summit tomorrow, a meeting that will serve as a preview of the dialogue space that both organizations will promote during the XI Energy Week , scheduled from October 6 to 9, 2026 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic .
The event will begin at 9 am Colombia | 11 am Argentina | 4 pm Spain and can be followed live through the official FES YouTube channel.
This will be the first activity of the strategic alliance between FES and OLACDE , which in October will lead to the in-person launch of FES Government & Investment , a new forum aimed at strengthening dialogue between governments, investors and companies to accelerate the development of clean energy projects in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The meeting will bring together officials, international organizations, financial institutions, and leading companies in the sector to discuss regulation, investment, and technology. The opening remarks will be delivered by Ricardo Guerrero , Vice Minister of Electric Power of the Dominican Republic , and Andrés Rebolledo , Executive Secretary of OLACDE , in a conversation moderated by Gastón Fenés , Founder of Energía Estratégica .
The agenda will include four panels. The first, "Business Sector Vision for the Energy Transition," will feature Karla Martínez (CMI Capital) , Jorge Padilla (Siemens) , Alfonso Rodríguez (Soventix Caribbean) , Lucas Estrada (EPSE) , and Marcelo Álvarez (Coral Energía and CADER) , moderated by Álvaro Villasante of Grupo Energía Bogotá .
Next will be the session "Government Vision: Regulatory Challenges for the Energy Transition" , with Ricardo Guerrero , Juan Carlos Bedoya , from the Ministry of Energy of Colombia , and Pablo del Canto , from the Ministry of Energy of Chile , moderated by Medardo Cadena , advisor to the Executive Secretary of OLACDE .
The third panel, "OEMs' Vision: Cutting-edge technologies for the transition to storage and photovoltaics" , will bring together Héctor Núñez (Sungrow) , Martín Portillo (Huawei) , Iván Reyes (LONGi) , Marco Ricci (Solax Power) and Alejo López (Nextpower) .
Finally, "Vision of the financial ecosystem: opportunities and challenges to finance the energy transition in Latin America and the Caribbean" will feature Marcelino Madrigal (Inter-American Development Bank - IDB) , Lisette Hermida (Banco Popular Dominicano) and Michael Mechlinski (GET.transform) .
In October, it will host the in-person launch of FES Government & Investment , and its agenda will bring together ministers, CEOs, multilateral organizations, developers, technology manufacturers, financial institutions and major consumers to analyze the main challenges facing the regional energy transition.
The planned priorities include attracting investment to Central America, the Caribbean, and South America; the role of public policies in accelerating the transition; and opportunities to strengthen energy security through greater incorporation of renewable energy.
Energy storage will be a central focus, with sessions dedicated to the state of the BESS market, cost trends toward 2030, manufacturing advancements, technological integration, and project bankability. These will be complemented by panels on the expansion of utility-scale solar energy, the integration of solar and storage , the evolution of the photovoltaic segment for utility, commercial, and industrial markets, and the outlook for the development of wind and hybrid projects in Latin America.
The agenda will also include high-level roundtables between energy ministers, regulators, and CEOs to discuss project bankability, new financing strategies for decarbonization, strengthening public-private partnerships, and a regional roadmap to 2030. In addition, there will be networking sessions, closed meetings of the Business Council, and exclusive meetings between government officials and energy sector executives.
Another focus will be the growing electricity demand associated with the digital economy. Executives from technology companies will discuss the link between data centers, renewable energy, and electricity grids, while industry representatives will analyze how to advance competitiveness, security of supply, and decarbonization for large energy consumers.
A regional context that drives the debate
The meeting coincides with a period of strong growth for the regional energy sector. According to the latest OLACDE monthly report, renewable energy now accounts for 67.7% of electricity generation in Latin America and the Caribbean, well above the global average of 33.8% .
While hydropower remains the primary source of generation, year-on-year growth was driven by other technologies. In February 2026, wind generation increased by 6 TWh , bioenergy by 5 TWh , and solar by 2 TWh , offsetting the decline in hydropower production and reflecting greater diversification of the regional energy mix.
Meanwhile, various countries are moving forward with renewable energy and storage tenders to meet growing demand and attract new investment. This scenario brings issues such as regulation, financing, and the adoption of new technologies to the forefront—key themes that will be the focus of much of the discussion at the FES Government & Investment Virtual Summit and will continue to be explored during the FES Government & Investment event on October 7 and 8 , as part of the 11th Energy Week .
The October meeting will bring together energy ministers, regulatory bodies, companies and financial institutions from the 27 OLACDE member countries , consolidating a space for dialogue between the public and private sectors in one of the most relevant events for defining energy policies and investment opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean.
