The Private Investment Promotion Agency – PROINVERSIÓN, awarded four strategic electricity transmission projects that will require an investment of USD 339 million and will provide a safer and more reliable electricity service to more than 1.6 million people in the regions of Piura, Lambayeque, Junín, and Ayacucho. These projects are part of the first group of the 2025-2034 Transmission Plan and will help meet the growing energy demand in homes, businesses, industries, and services.
The award ceremony was attended by the Vice Minister of Electricity of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Luis Enrique Santillán; the Executive President of PROINVERSIÓN, Luis Del Carpio Castro; and the project's line director, Emerson Castro, who emphasized the importance of continuing to promote infrastructure that strengthens the country's competitiveness and development.
“Each electricity transmission project we award means more opportunities for the regions. The projects will be developed by Engie Energía Perú under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The concessionaire will be responsible for the design, financing, construction, operation, and maintenance of the works for a period of 30 years, ensuring high standards of quality and continuity of service. PROINVERSIÓN, for its part, will be in charge of the project's contractual administration to guarantee adherence to the established deadlines.
The projects will strengthen the electrical infrastructure in four regions of the country. In Piura, the 500 kV Miguel Grau–Pariñas transmission line and a new substation will be built to improve the electricity supply and facilitate the integration of renewable energy, primarily wind power, benefiting 1.3 million people. In Lambayeque, the transmission system will be reinforced with new lines and substations, increasing the reliability of service for 100,000 residents.
In Junín, the construction of a new substation in Palián will ensure the electricity supply to Huancayo and strengthen service continuity for 150,000 people. Meanwhile, in Ayacucho, a new transmission link will increase the security of the electrical system for 50,000 residents, reducing the risk of power outages.
With this award, PROINVERSIÓN continues to execute the portfolio of prioritized projects of the 2025-2034 Transmission Plan, promoting investments that strengthen the energy infrastructure and create the conditions for economic growth and sustainable development of the country.
