Peru's Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) focused on expanding the electricity transmission infrastructure during working meetings with representatives of ISA Energía and ACCIONA , two companies with strategic projects to strengthen the National Interconnected Electricity System (SEIN).
During the meetings, the companies presented to the Minister of Energy and Mines, Guillermo Shinno, and the Vice Minister of Electricity, Luis Santillán, the status of their operations and their expansion plans in the country.
In the case of ISA Energía , the company reported that it currently has a presence in 21 regions of Peru and more than 12,000 kilometers of transmission lines , while its expansion portfolio includes more than US$1.3 billion in investment .
The plan includes the construction of more than 1,400 kilometers of new transmission lines, six new substations and 20 expansions , initiatives that aim to expand the capacity of the network and accompany the growth of electricity demand in different regions of the country.
For its part, ACCIONA informed MINEM about the progress of four high-voltage electricity transmission projects: Reque–Tumbes, Hub-Poroma, Ica–Poroma and Machupicchu–Quencoro .

These initiatives are part of the expansion of the infrastructure needed to strengthen the SEIN and improve electrical interconnection between different areas of Peruvian territory.
The deployment of new lines and substations is gaining relevance given the anticipated growth in electricity demand and the need for a network with greater capacity and reliability to integrate new generation and meet user requirements.
In this context, Shinno highlighted the importance of continuing to strengthen the energy infrastructure and noted that MINEM is working to unblock investment projects and optimize permitting processes , with the aim of facilitating the execution of initiatives considered strategic for the electrical system.
The minister also emphasized the sector's commitment to creating conditions to boost investments in transmission and strengthen the reliability of the SEIN, so that the infrastructure supports both economic growth and the expansion of electricity demand in the regions.
Thus, among the projects already under development and the new investments announced, transmission appears as one of the main fronts of expansion of the Peruvian electrical infrastructure , with initiatives that seek to expand the capacity of the network and prepare the system for the coming years.
