GameChange Energy anticipates that 2027 will mark an acceleration of its business in the region , following a first half of the year hampered by project delays and investment decisions. This expectation is based on initiatives that have been under development for more than two years, new project awards, and an improvement in activity observed since June.
The opening of an office in Mexico City is part of that strategy. From there, the company aims to support developers, EPCs, and IPPs with local engineering, sales, and operations capabilities, as well as consolidate its participation in projects moving forward in the coming years.
Regional growth coincides with a corporate transformation. The firm integrated its tracker, fixed structure, transformer, eBOS, and remote asset monitoring businesses under a single identity , aiming to evolve from a specialized tracker and fixed structure provider to a solutions platform for photovoltaic plants.
In a dialogue with Energía Estratégica , Juan González, Director of Business Development for Latin America at GameChange Energy , analyzes the prospects towards 2027, explains why Mexico will be the priority market and details the scope of the new portfolio.
How did GameChange Energy close out the first half of the year?
The first half of the year was a bit challenging. We saw that projects were delayed, but in the last month they have moved forward.
So the overall balance has been positive, especially during June of this year, but we have seen a challenging semester, where we managed to close several projects that position us well within the region.
What are your projections for the second half of the year and for 2027?
We'll be able to continue growing, at least in volume, in Latin America. The second half of the year looks even better than the first . And without a doubt, our greatest projection is for 2027, starting with the reactivation in Mexico and some auctions that have been announced in other countries.
Therefore, we view the Latin American market with optimism for 2027.
What projects can drive that growth?
I hope that some projects that have been delayed can finally move forward, those we have in the pipeline, some of which we have been working on for more than two years.
So we would expect that, by the end of the year, those projects that are a little delayed, but which we have already analyzed quite thoroughly, can finally come to fruition and support our clients in these projects.
What role will Mexico play in that strategy in Latin America?
We've already announced the opening of offices in that country, hiring local support, engineering, and sales staff. We want to support this expansion by leveraging our experience not only in Mexico but also in other regions to assist our clients there.
So without a doubt I would say that, in Latin America, Mexico is going to be one of our main focuses during the next few years .
What will be the scope of the new office?
It will house the regional team and strengthen the company's ability to provide technical, sales, and operational support from within the country. We are currently in an internal restructuring phase to expand both the technical and sales teams, or to incorporate teams specifically for these new products.
How are the other relevant markets in the region behaving?
Chile has always been a very attractive market. In recent years there was a slight downturn with only PMGD projects, but we've seen a recovery in the utility sector. Argentina remains an interesting market despite its unique characteristics.
Colombia is also a market where we have been present for several years.
Are they also expanding their teams in Colombia?
Yes, because we have several projects underway and in the pipeline that will move forward by the beginning of next year or the end of this year. But Mexico is where we're hiring the most people.
What does the rebranding announced by the company entail?
GameChange Energy presents itself as a partner that supports the client with a variety of equipment and services with the scope of a new energy infrastructure platform, and not only that, we want to support the client during all phases of the life cycle of their projects. We have consolidated within a single brand our offering of trackers, fixed structures, eBOS, and transformers.
What changes for customers with this integration?
The approach will be the same. Now they will have a strategic ally that will allow them to have the confidence and bankability of profitable products throughout the different supply chains, and we offer a platform with different products, which eliminates incompatibility risks, generates greater reliability, and, well, a single point of contact with a supplier for different types of components.
Is the difference in the comprehensive solution or in each technology?
It's both. The strategy is to be able to offer our clients a package or the specific product they need. But in any case, it always carries the GameChange seal—the seal of high quality, reliability, bankability, technical service, and local support that has led us to position ourselves as the number 2 solar tracker company globally and number 1 in India, Africa, and APAC, according to the ranking published by Wood Mackenzie in its recent Global Market Share Report 2026.
We want our clients to have the support of a single supplier across all their products. If needed, they can choose a single product, but with the same reliability, technical support, and financial backing we've offered over the years, especially in the tracker segment. We will continue to offer this support across all our energy infrastructure platform solutions, as it's inherent to our company; GameChange Energy has it ingrained in its DNA.
These business units will help us grow as a whole company, beyond each business unit separately.
Will these new lines be rolled out to all countries?
Yes, it's a global corporate strategy, but also adapted to the demands and requirements of regional and local markets, and of course, completely focused on the needs of each project and each client to achieve the lowest LCOE throughout the entire operational life of the installation. Every step we take and every market we explore, we make sure we have the experience, the local people, and the clients to expand our markets and expand our products within different regions.
So yes, it is a global plan implemented in a phased and different way depending on the region and country where we operate.
