After becoming the leading supplier of solar trackers in Europe by 2025, Axial is accelerating its international expansion with the aim of consolidating its presence in strategic, high-growth markets. In this context, Latin America has become one of the company's top priorities, and it is strengthening its commercial structure, supply capacity, and relationships with developers in the region.
Energía Estratégica discussed this with José Luis Fayos , CEO and founder of Axial Structural Solutions, at Intersolar 2026.
-What steps are you taking in Latin America to replicate the position you achieved in Europe?
Having achieved leadership in Europe confirms that our technology, engineering, and industrial capacity meet the demands of one of the world's most competitive markets. Now we want to bring that experience to Latin America, supporting developers in the region with a stronger local presence.
We are significantly strengthening our sales network. We started with our sales office in São Paulo to primarily serve South America. Then we opened an office in Mexico, which will allow us to serve Central America and the Caribbean locally.
-Which destinations are you currently prioritizing within the region?
Mexico is one of the markets with the greatest growth potential in the short term. Brazil remains a strategic market for Axial, and we are confident that it will regain its momentum as regulatory and network conditions evolve.
-And what other markets are you looking at?
Latin America has a lot of potential. We're seeing what's happening with Argentina. In fact, I'm going on a trade mission soon to be close to the market and see how it's developing.
Colombia, with the change of government, is also on the move. We've heard that the new president is determined to promote the development of renewable energy.
-How important is supply chain improvement for gaining competitiveness in these markets?
We have a decentralized supply chain , which allows us to have incredible flexibility in terms of production. We have a very strong production capacity in Europe with our factory in Valencia, but we have always believed that it is necessary to have breadth and a global supply chain .
We have offices in China, quality control facilities, and production facilities for our suppliers, giving us a very flexible and large capacity. We also have manufacturing in Turkey and other locations.
Our model combines in-house manufacturing with a global network of approved suppliers, all supervised by our teams. This allows us to adapt production capacity to the demand of each market while maintaining the same high standards of quality and service.
Does this production structure support the company's international expansion plan?
Yes. Our production model is specifically designed to support Axial's international growth. We combine our own manufacturing with a global network of approved suppliers, all supervised by our teams. This allows us to adapt production capacity to the demand of each market while maintaining our standards of quality, service, and delivery times.
-What exactly does it mean to transfer to Latin America the position that Axial already has in Europe?
Obviously, the goal isn't to be number one everywhere; or maybe it is. But, in effect, it's about replicating the company's European position in those other regions or markets.
Our goal is not only to grow in Latin America, but to become a leading partner for the region's major developers, contributing the experience, industrial capacity and innovation that have allowed us to achieve leadership in Europe.
-Can the growth of storage also accelerate solar development in the region?
Storage has two paths: hybrid projects and stand-alone systems. Both options contribute significantly to bolstering the development of solar energy.
The model needs to be more sophisticated and it needs to have an industrial concept, a more classic business concept.
You have to actively participate in generation, manage the plants, negotiate well what I do with my energy - how I sell it, at what price, what percentage I sell at a certain price - energize and participate in the operation of a generation business.
In this whole new world that's opening up, storage gives us the ability to manage the plants. From that perspective, it will allow us to improve profitability and will also provide investors in renewable energy projects with greater certainty and greater attractiveness in terms of returns.
It's going to be more complicated, but at the same time I think it will allow us to continue growing.
-How important was Intersolar for Axial after achieving leadership in Europe?
Intersolar is a trade fair that I love because it allows me to get a feel for things and experience firsthand the company's notoriety and the recognition from the market, customers, and even competitors.
This year had a very special meaning because we wanted to share with the entire sector the milestone of having become the number one supplier in the European market by 2025. And, at the same time, we wanted to demonstrate that we are not content with that.
We took advantage of the trade fair to present Axial Titan, which represents the next stage in our evolution as a company. As its founder, I inevitably have many memories of the journey we've taken, but above all, I'm thinking about how this recognition and our commitment to innovation will help us continue to grow and accelerate Axial's international expansion.
